Our Sewing course is a hands-on, creative class designed for anyone who wants to build their confidence with a sewing machine, learn new skills, or simply enjoy some mindful making time each week.
Across 10 weeks, participants will explore:
Garment Making
How to read and understand sewing patterns
Measuring, cutting, and assembling fabric pieces
Techniques for seams, hems, darts, and fastenings
Creating simple clothing items with guidance from our experienced tutor
Soft Furnishings
Making cushions, table runners, and other home décor projects
Choosing suitable fabrics and understanding their uses
Basic hand-stitching techniques
Finishing touches that give homemade items a professional look
What to Expect
This class suits complete beginners as well as those with some sewing experience. The tutor offers support, demonstrations, and practical help throughout the course. All core equipment is available in the Centre, and each week builds on the last so you can develop at your own pace.
Sewing is not only a useful skill—it’s relaxing, creative, and a great way to meet new people in a warm, welcoming environment.
If you need childcare while you learn, crèche places are available for mothers attending the class.
