Drawing to Unwind

Drawing to Unwind is a relaxed evening art course designed to help women slow down, switch off and explore drawing as a tool for relaxation and self-expression. This class focuses on process rather than technical skill, making it suitable for all abilities, including complete beginners.

What the Class Involves

Over the 4-week course, participants will explore:

Mindful Drawing and Mark Making

  • Gentle drawing exercises designed to calm the mind

  • Exploring mark making through movement, rhythm and texture

  • Drawing without pressure or expectation

Creating Your Own Tools and Sketchbook

  • Making your own mark making tools using everyday and natural materials

  • Creating a personal sketchbook to use throughout the course

  • Using your sketchbook as a space for experimentation rather than perfection

Mixed Media Exploration

  • Working with a variety of materials such as ink, pencil, charcoal and collage

  • Layering, combining and experimenting with different media

  • Responding to prompts and creative exercises rather than aiming for a finished artwork

Reflection and Relaxation

  • A calm, supportive environment to unwind at the end of the day

  • Opportunities to reflect quietly or share if you wish

  • Using creativity as a form of self-care

What to Expect

This course is not about being “good at drawing”. There is no right or wrong outcome, and participants are encouraged to work at their own pace. Sessions are gently guided, with plenty of space for individual exploration and relaxation.

All materials are provided, and no previous art experience is needed.
