Women’s Little Christmas
Women’s Little Christmas has long been a time to recognise women’s care, labour, and wellbeing. Traditionally celebrated on 6th January, it offered women a moment of rest after the busy Christmas period — a chance to be cared for, to connect, and to take time for themselves.
At Waterside Women’s Centre, we are proud to honour this tradition while using the occasion to raise awareness about Ending Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG). Violence thrives in silence and isolation, which is why creating safe spaces for women to gather, learn, and connect is so important.
Our Women’s Little Christmas event brings women together for an evening of warmth and community, alongside guest speakers who will share information about the work being done locally to support women and prevent violence. Attendees will hear about services available in our council area and where to turn for help — for themselves or for others.
Women’s Centres are trusted, safe places where women are listened to, supported, and empowered. Through strong partnership working with local organisations and the wider women’s sector, we can provide meaningful support and ensure women are not facing these challenges alone.
Women’s Little Christmas reminds us that women deserve care, safety, and respect — not just on one evening, but every day.
